Showing up for your business (without the overthinking)

Showing up for your business online looks different for everyone and it might even look different every day.

The one thing that most business owners I speak to believe holds them back from showing up on social media is the thought that their content has to be “perfect” before they hit that post button.

But the reality is your business and community are changing every day. Your followers want to see that reflected in your content, whatever that looks like for you.

They say consistency is key for a reason

Consistently showing up on feeds with content that’s “almost perfect” goes much further than not showing up at all. How will your audience get to know you and build trust with you and your business if they rarely hear from you?

When your audience sees you showing up regularly on their feeds, they start to remember your name, recognise your brand and have a better understanding of what you offer. And when they are finally ready to take the next step and invest in a product or service you provide, you’re the first person they think of. That’s the real power of showing up.

One thing I’ve loved seeing this year is how many clients are starting to have fun with their own content, feeling more confident and comfortable in front of the camera.

My clients have been trying out different formats of content with a good mix of DIY and professional photos and reels on their socials in ways that feel true to their brand. This helps them keep their content fresh, allowing them to show up when and where their audience is, which is key to staying top of mind.

Keeping your brand fresh with DIY content

 Let’s be honest.

Professional photos are a fabulous addition to your marketing strategy, but it’s okay if they are out of your budget right now, especially if your business is just getting started.

Creating content for your business doesn’t have to be complicated or require a huge budget. All you need is your phone, a few essentials and a little bit of creativity to capture great DIY content that is engaging and on-brand.

I recently visited the Creative Warehouse in Altona with Sarah Eliza for a fun content day. Setting aside some time and hiring a photography studio for a couple of hours can be an easy, budget-friendly option to create fresh content in a batch that’s ready for use on your socials.

I filmed a video walking through some of the basic tools you can use to get started with DIY content. Some of my essentials are a phone or a digital camera (which can also double as a prop!), a tripod, a mic and a gimbal if you’re feeling extra creative. All of this is easy to pack into a bag so you’re ready to grab it and go.

The most important part? Don’t overthink it

Your followers want to see content that feels real and relatable. Showing up regularly with simple, authentic posts helps your audience connect with you much more than not showing up at all.

My 1:1 consults are the perfect way to get answers to your most pressing marketing questions so you can feel confident and clear about your marketing strategy.
